I've had a guy walk out of his house with a shotgun once. He leaned
against an out building and just stood there watching me fly (legally
and with permission) from an adjoining field owned by his neighbor (my
friend). He never pointed the gun at me and, believe me, If he had, I
would have called the police.
None of that matters if you wear the bullets to your funeral.
Some Florida Flyers have recounted stories of 1) having a really
mad neighbor who they tried to avoid and 2) finding bullet holes in at
least one of their wings. So there are real risks to bear. And yes, I
know that shotguns don't go that far but I'm not willing to play the
range game. If it's got a barrel and bullets it can easily inflict
fatalities.
So I wasn't terribly surprised by what Ken sent me except for the
sheer number of hits.
This person played the target lobby a lot of
times.
Although this law says aircraft, there may be some recourse for
ultralighters.
