Chapter 09: Airspace & Charts

Section II Spreading Your Wings | See other PPG Bible Additions | Flying Sites and their airspace

Can I launch here? you ask. Probably, but there are some things you must know.

In the U.S. our freedom is inspiring; we can fly just about anywhere with few restrictions but, like all freedoms, that privilege carries great responsibility. Knowing the airspace and adhering to its restrictions is the only we collectively will keep enjoying our freedom.

Those who doubt the need to protect our freedom need only look to our flying friends in the Washington D.C. area. They can no longer fly in their home area due to security restrictions. Regardless of what anyone thinks about those restrictions, they are a reality to many who now must travel a long way to fly. We owe it to the continuance of our minimally regulated status to learn and respect the airspace we fly in!

Another useful resource is the flying sites section. It provides a practical guide to the airspace issues surrounding numerous popular PPG locations.
